Description

Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), also called High-Throughput Sequencing (HTS), is a technology allowing the massively parallel processing of millions of sequences per run.

During this lecture (~2hrs), we will discuss both the theorical and practical aspects behind this technology. Sample selection, RNA/DNA extraction and library preparation are common steps for different applications of NGS/HTS. We will discuss data analysis, which will be slightly different from an application to another one, while some important steps are similar and fundamental in most NGS/HTS applications. Finally, we will have a first insight into the concept of pipeline and analysis reproductibility.

At the end of the lecture, participants will be familiar with NGS/HTS technology and the different steps associated with a NGS/HTS experiment. They will also understand what are the key elements to consider when starting a NGS/HTS project.
