DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Arnaud Lavergne (GIGA)\nNext-Generation Sequencing (
NGS)\, also called High-Throughput Sequencing (HTS)\, is a technology allo
wing the massively parallel processing of millions of sequences per run.\n
\nDuring this lecture (~2hrs)\, we will discuss both the theorical and pra
ctical aspects behind this technology. Sample selection\, RNA/DNA extracti
on and library preparation are common steps for different applications of
NGS/HTS. We will discuss data analysis\, which will be slightly different
from an application to another one\, while some important steps are simila
r and fundamental in most NGS/HTS applications. Finally\, we will have a f
irst insight into the concept of pipeline and analysis reproductibility.\n
\nAt the end of the lecture\, participants will be familiar with NGS/HTS t
echnology and the different steps associated with a NGS/HTS experiment. Th
ey will also understand what are the key elements to consider when startin
 g a NGS/HTS project.\n\nhttps://indico.giga.uliege.be/event/487/contributi

DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Arnaud Lavergne (GIGA)\nRNA Sequencing (RNASeq) is o
ne of the most famous applications of NGS/HTS technology. It allows the st
udy of gene expression at the genome-wide level.\n\nDuring this lecture\,
we will discuss both theorical and practical aspects underlying the classi
cal RNASeq process. We will also cover some variations of the protocol and
different alternative methods. Moreover we will explore important steps i
n a RNAseq data analysis and describe the input/output files involved.\n\n
Single-Cell (SC) sequencing allows to study sequencing information at the
level of an individual cell. After the individualization of your cells.\n\
nWe will discuss both theorical and practical aspects underlying the SC se
quencing process. We will then discuss further the technology in the conte
xt of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) and how it differs from "bulk"
RNAseq data in terms of data analysis.\n\nAt the end of the lecture\, par
ticipants will be familiar with sequencing technology and its applications
in the context of Transcriptomics studies. They will be able to explain t
 he key elements/steps to consider in a bulk/ScRNAseq project.\n\nhttps://i
