DESCRIPTION:Systems neuroscience uses neuroimaging to study neural structu
re\, function and networks to understand behavioral states\, but also neur
o-psychiatric diseases.\n\nThis course aims at providing an overview into
basic human and preclinical neuroimaging research using mutli-modal method
s to unravel biological\, pharmacological and cognitive processes that und
erlie human behavior and disease.\n\nThe lectures are centered around rese
arch topics currently under investigation at the GIGA (e.g. mechanisms and
cerebral correlates underlying sleep-wake regulation\, consciousness and
cognitive states\; systems memory consolidation\, pathophysiological proce
sses underlying neurodegenerative diseases and associated development of r
adiotracers).\n\nThe lectures are performed by researchers using infrastru
ctures for clinical and preclinical neuroimaging research\, including Magn
etic Resonsance Imaging (MRI)\, Positron Emission Tomography (PET)\,Transc
ranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)\, Electroencephalography (EEG) and neuro
psychological testing.\n\nBy the end of the course\, the participants shou
ld get a broad overview of the research branch covering part of such syste
ms neuroscience approach and to have sensed into topics handled at the res
earch unit.\n\nTarget group: Master students\, PhD candidates\, postdoctor
al researchers\n\nMaterial:\n\nThe course relies on a mixture of  lecture
 s & lab visits.\n\nPrerequisites: none\n\nhttps://indico.giga.uliege.be/ev
